Ty Ung - Associate Patent Attorney

Background

Mr. Ung is a registered Patent Attorney who started his career as a chemical engineer for an environmental engineering firm. As an undergraduate, he assisted in the research of membrane technology for use in supercritical fluid extraction. While in law school, Mr. Ung took classes in all aspects of intellectual property law from patents to trademarks and copyrights. He also gained patent prosecution experience while working for a Japanese Intellectual Property firm during his study in Japan.

Mr. Ung joined Patel & Alumit, PC in 2005 and has assisted numerous clients in obtaining intellectual property protections for their patents, trademarks, and copyrights. Because of his versatility, Mr. Ung provides consultation to clients to determine the appropriate intellectual property protection. He also prosecutes trademarks and patent applications at the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and copyrights at the Library of Congress. In addition to the above duties, he provides consultation on patent and trademark searches, infringement and validity analysis, and is assisting several clients in a patent infringement action.
